GTA was commissioned by the ACT Government to develop and evaluate trial 40km/h zones in Gungahlin and Woden town centres (major shopping centre/ commercial areas) in the ACT. Following a successful trial in these town centres investigation into the continuation of 40km/h zones in Tuggeranong, Belconnen and Civic town centres is now commencing. GTA analysed motor vehicle speeds, pedestrian and cyclist count data, and accident records to identify suitable locations for the trial areas. GTA has produced engineering drawings to show the location and type of signs and traffic calming devices. GTA developed communication material to inform the local community and business about the trial. An evaluation plan was also formulated to allow the ACT Government to assess the trial.
