Pearce/ Chifley Cycling and Pedestrian Network – Green Belt Path Feasibility Study

client : Roads ACT

gta office : Canberra

A member of the Chifley community prepared a proposal for a Chifley/Pearce Greenway project, and was successful in gaining funding from the Australian Government, via Roads ACT, as part of the National Bike Path Program. The proposed route was intended primarily to provide a safe and convenient route for residents of Chifley to travel to nearby schools and was roughly 2km long, linking the trunk path along Tuggeranong Parkway with the path along Athllon Drive, providing separate bicycle and pedestrian facilities.  GTA Consultants was engaged by Roads ACT to determine the feasibility of the proposed route, and to investigate alternatives as appropriate. GTA conducted a thorough analysis of the options, including a review of existing facilities and a preliminary benefit-cost analysis to assess the value of the path and select the most suitable route and path type for the path if constructed.
