GTA Consultants, in collaboration with Glen Eira City Council, has developed a Public Transport Gap Analysis and Advocacy Reference Document. Council research indicates that Glen Eira has one of the highest commuting municipalities in the State with approximately 80 per cent of residents working outside of Glen Eira and 66 percent commuting to work by car.
In 2018, the Council adopted the Integrated Transport Strategy 2018-2031, providing a response to community concerns on public transport provision in the municipality. It includes several priorities, including a 50:50 mode share of car and non-car trips by 2031.
To assist in achieve this goal, the Public Transport Gap Analysis and Advocacy Reference Document was prepared to assess the current state of public transport availability and accessibility across the municipality. It also articulates public transport initiatives that should be advocated for, or delivered, to increase public transport usage within the next four years.
Glen Eira City Council is now seeking public comment for the gap analysis where members of the community can provide feedback on the initiatives suggested. The opportunity for public feedback is open to all community members, regardless of residential address.
