Arden Macaulay Structure Plan
Arden Macaulay has been identified by the City of Melbourne as an urban renewal area forecast to accommodate substantial increases in population and employment over the next 30 years.
The precinct is forecast to cater for up to 22,000 additional residents, 500,000sqm of commercial and 73,000sqm of retail floor space as well as new and improved open spaces, improved streetscapes and the delivery of key transport infrastructure items. GTA Consultants was appointed by the City of Melbourne to review, interpret and plan for this forecast growth.
The transport evaluation included the use of the State Government’s strategic transport model (VITM) and considered future mode share predictions and behaviours of residents and employees in the precinct, having regard to growth within both the precinct and broader Melbourne. The analysis culminated in preparation of an Integrated Transport and Access Review with a series of recommendations to manage traffic and transport outcomes associated with planned levels of growth. Beyond the analytical evaluation, GTA Consultants was also appointed to act as an expert witness before a ministerially appointed panel to hear the proposed Planning Scheme Amendment (Amendment C190), which was heard and subsequently approved in 2015.
