Port Augusta Renewable Energy - traffic plan

DP Energy Australia is proposing a new Renewable Energy Park (REP) consisting of wind turbines and solar modules on land located approximately eight kilometres south east of Port Augusta.

Components for the REP will be transported to the site from either Port Adelaide or Port Pirie via Highway One, with a preference for Port Pirie to minimise transportation distance. Some of the transport vehicles will exceed the mass and/or dimensions permitted along the routes and as such are considered Restricted Access Vehicles that require separate approval to travel along a specified route.

On the above basis, GTA was commissioned to develop a Route Feasibility Report and a Transport Impact Assessment to evaluate the two proposed transport route options, the proposed site access and egress points, the type of vehicles to be used along the route/s, the frequency of movements and any required infrastructure upgrade works. GTA was also required to liaise with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) to obtain in principle support for the proposed transport route options and site access arrangements.
