Croydon Avenue masterplan

Client // City of Charles Sturt

GTA Office // Adelaide

GTA was appointed by the City of Charles Sturt to develop a masterplan for a local streetscape and community reserve upgrade for Croydon Avenue and Garnet Streetin West Croydon. Key to the masterplan was consultation with residents, schools and business owners. GTA was assisted by Jensen Plus who provided streetscape, reserve and community consultation expertise.

The project was designed to deliver improvements to the area for the benefit of the local community. The masterplan encompassed road safety, street amenities and connections for active travel and public transport, as well as access provisions for those with mobility restrictions.

An initial community workshop and Place Check-event achieved positive feedback from the community despite initial concerns. Similar stakeholder meetings were also held with the two nearby schools to receive further input into the plan. The feedback informed the design concepts which were presented at subsequent community workshops to maintain the community buy-in and ownership. The options received strong community support and the final masterplan designs were endorsed by Council with initial delivery planned for 2017-2018.
